Vicopisano without boundaries

Vicopisano has always tried to emerge as a territory that favors and facilitates tourism for people with disabilities for a sustainable, experiential, emotional kind of trip, based on a form of all-round reception to make you fully enjoy what the territory offers, respecting the environment and the authenticity.

Everybody has the right to the full social inclusion, both in their own community and as tourists.

Vicopisano is already a municipality awarded with the Lilac Flag - an acknowledgement given to administrations that promote a kind of tourism for people with special needs - and it wants to keep the attention alive by adopting the PEBA, a plan for the elimination of the architectural barriers, in order to remove obstacles that hinder mobility, defeating the right to social accessibility for people with disabilities, whether if they are citizens, visitors or tourists, according to the principle of equal opportunities.

Vicopisano can also be visited and enjoyed by tourists with special needs, with routes and itineraries that are free of architectural barriers.

By the way, given the steep and the narrow stairs, it is difficult to visit the towers and the walkway: we have therefore created a route on the ground that allows those who use mobility aids to visit the outside of the castle.
